(MIKE)> WE TEAR A LOT OF OLD CARS APART HERE AT THE TECH CENTER. SO WHEN WE GET IT TORE DOWN AND MAGNAFLUXED, THAT'LL BE THE FIRST PLACE WE CHECK FOR CRACKS. NOW THAT CAUSES A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CREATES A LOT OF HEAT IN BETWEEN THESE TWO CYLINDERS. NOW THE WAY THAT WORKS IS THE TWO CENTER EXHAUST VALVES ACTUALLY SHARE THE SAME RUNNER AND DUMP OUT THE SAME SPOT. NOW I HAVE HEARD OF SOME GUYS CONFUSING THESE WITH THE SIX CYLINDER AT FIRST GLANCE BECAUSE THEY HAVE THREE EXHAUST PORTS ON THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK. THE PISTONS AND RINGS ARE FROZE TO THE CYLINDER WALLS AND WHO KNOWS WHAT THE BEARINGS LOOK LIKE. AND BEING ALL IRON, THE RUST WITCH HAS CAST HER SPELL. (JOHN)> NOW OURS WAS OBVIOUSLY IN THE WEATHER FOR SOME TIME. NOW YOU CAN STILL FIND THEM, BUT CONDITIONS MAY VARY. NOW IT MADE A WHOOPING 110 HORSEPOWER AND 194 POUND FEET OF TORQUE BACK IN ITS DAY. IT HAS A THREE POINT ONEEIGHTSEVENFIVE BORE AND A THREESEVEN-50 STROKE. ACCORDING TO THE CASTING NUMBER ON THE HEADS AND THE CASTING NUMBER ON THE BLOCK, THIS IS ONE OF THE LATE VERSIONS FROM 1949 TO '53, WHICH IS THE 239 CUBIC INCH VERSION.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS MONUMENTAL MOTORS HAVE COME AND GONE, BUT NOW MORE THAN EVER THERE'S TIME TESTED TRUTH IN THE OLD PHRASE "FLATHEADS FOREVER". WITH THE RESURGENCE OF STREET ROD AND CUSTOM CLASSIC BUILDERS, THEY'VE GAINED FRESH FAME WITH A NEW BREED OF ENTHUSIASTS. IN RECENT YEARS THOUGH FLATHEAD FEVER HAS SEEN AN ALL NEW OUTBREAK. THAT IS UNTIL THE EARLY '50'S WHEN PRODUCTION OF THE OUTDATED FLATTY FADED INTO HISTORY. (MIKE)> THE FLATHEAD WAS THE GO TO POWERPLANT FOR RACERS OF ALL BREEDS AND NEEDS FOR SPEED. AND HENRY HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WAS EVER GONNA BE ACCEPTED IN THAT WAY, BUT IT WAS. (VIC)> THE FLATHEAD WAS THE ENGINE AFTER THE WAR. IT WAS EVEN THE CATALYST FOR AN EMERGING EVENTUALLY FLOURISHING AFTERMARKET SPEED EQUIPMENT INDUSTRY. IT WAS QUICKLY EMBRACED BY GUYS WITH A PASSION FOR GOING FAST. WHEN HENRY FORD RELEASED A NEW VEIGHT ENGINE FOR HIS 1932 MODELB'S AND 18'S, HE NEVER KNEW HE HAD JUMP STARTED AN AMERICAN HOT RODDING CRAZE. OUR PLAN IS TO BUILD A PERFORMANCE FLATHEAD THAT PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE WAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT BY HOT RODDERS BACK IN THE '50'S AND '60'S. ITS AN ENGINE THAT HAS NOT BEEN PRODUCED FOR 61 YEARS. NOW WE FOUND OURS AT A LOCAL AUTO RECYCLING YARD IN AN OLD FLAT BED TRUCK. TODAY WE'RE STARTING A BUILD ON A FAMOUS FORD FLATHEAD. (MIKE)> WELCOME TO THE ENGINE POWER SHOP. NEW OIL CHANGE, A LITTLE 30 WEIGHT OIL IN THE CYLINDERS, IT'LL FIRE RIGHT UP WITH SOME NEW PLUGS. THIS THING LOOKED BETTER IN THE JUNKYARD. (MIKE)> I HOPE YOU'VE GOT A HAMMER ON THAT CART. Also, there was a rare, non-Bronze performance from Bif Naked, who played a few songs at UC Sunnydale in season 4.(ANNOUNCER)> IT'S FLATHEADS FOREVER AS ENGINE POWER HOT RODS ONE OF HENRY FORD'S LEGENDARY SIDE VALVE VEIGHTS. Members of both bands could be seen at times on stage at the Bronze along with the fictional musicians played by actors. Four Star Mary also appeared in “Restless” as the band in Giles’ dream. While there were many real-life bands that played the Bronze, Four Star Mary was the band behind Oz’s fictional group, Dingoes Ate My Baby and THC was responsible for the music of Veruca’s band, Shy. RELATED: Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Whedonverse Universal Slayer Theory Explained Buffy featured music by bands as varied as Rasputina, Azure Ray, The Sundays, and Alison Krauss. As for the Bronze, the local club would occasionally host musicians way too famous to stop off in Sunnydale, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t delightful to see them become a part of the Buffyverse.
#Oz season 4 ep 8 series
The series has two soundtrack albums, as well several releases showcasing Christophe Beck’s iconic score, and of course, the soundtrack to the musical episode, "Once More with Feeling". One vital aspect of the show that tends to get overlooked is the music. The place may have been a bit lax in terms of carding minors, but it did attract some pretty great bands.īuffy the Vampire Slayer is remembered for a lot of wonderful things: snappy dialogue, clever use of metaphor, epic battles (and romances), and unforgettable characters. Thankfully, Sunnydale had a pretty awesome club known as the Bronze. Aside from the fact that it was sitting directly on top of a Hellmouth, there really wasn’t much to do in the ostensibly small town that was also inexplicably large enough to have its own university. The numerous real-life bands that played the Bronze in Buffy the Vampire Slayerserve as a perfect time capsule to the 1990s, and highlighted up and coming talent. The beloved series, which ran from 1997-2003, took place in the fictional town of Sunnydale, California.
